DIFFERENT ROUTES TO BISBEE, AZ.

Each route offers its unique charm, with stunning views of rugged mountains and the chance to pass through the historic town of Tombstone. Whether you're coming for the breathtaking landscapes or the rich history, the journey to Bisbee is as thrilling as the destination. Follow our detailed directions and prepare yourself for an extraordinary experience with Big Jeep Tours!

Through Tombstone

DIRECTIONS FROM TUCSON

We recommend taking 2 to 2.5 hours of travel time from Tucson to Bisbee, approximately 97 miles.

​

  • Merge onto I-10 E from Tucson and head towards Benson AZ, about 47 miles.

  • Take exit 303 for AZ-80 toward AZ-10/Benson/Douglas. You will exit into the city of Benson AZ.

  • Continue onto AZ-80 E/W 4th St.

  • Take the West Blvd exit toward Tombstone Canyon. 

  • Travel 12 miles on AZ-80 to St. David AZ.

  • Travel 18 miles on AZ-80 to Tombstone AZ.

  • Travel 23 miles on AZ-80 to the Mue Pass Tunnel.

  • Travel 4 miles on AZ-80 and take the exit toward Old Bisbee/Historic District.

  • Keep right at the fork to continue toward Main St/Naco Rd/Tombstone Canyon Rd into the Historic District of Bisbee AZ.

 

10 Copper Queen Plaza is a default pickup location and is next to the paid parking lot that is immediately visible in the Copper Queen Plaza. We offer Guest-Choice location pickup and dropoff anywhere in the greater Bisbee area.

Through Sierra Vista

ALTERNATIVE DIRECTIONS FROM TUCSON

The following directions follow a different path from Tucson to Bisbee but the travel distance is similar. We still recommend 2 to 2.5 hours of travel time.

  • Merge onto I-10 E from Tucson.

  • Travel about 46 miles and use the right lane to take exit 302 for AZ-90 E toward Ft Huachuca/Sierra Vista

  • In about 28 miles, turn left onto AZ-90 S at the Hatfield St Intersection.

  • Turn left and follow AZ-90 4.4 miles to the Fry Blvd intersection. Turn left to stay on AZ-90.

  • Travel 14 miles on AZ-90 to AZ-80 and make a right turn onto AZ-80.

  • Travel 8 miles on AZ-80 to the Mule Pass Tunnel.

  • Travel 4 miles on AZ-80 and take the exit toward Old Bisbee/Historic District.

  • Keep right at the fork to continue toward Main St/Naco Rd/Tombstone Canyon Rd into the Historic District of Bisbee AZ.

Through Sonoita

ALTERNATIVE SCENIC ROUTE FROM TUCSON

  • Merge onto I-10 E.

  • Travel about 25 miles on I-10 E to AZ-83 S in Vail. Exit from I-10 E onto AZ-83 S.

  • Travel 25.2 miles along AZ-83 S to AZ-82 E.

  • Turn left onto AZ-82 E and travel 19.2 miles to AZ-90 S.

  • Turn right onto AZ-90 S and travel 8.6 miles to the Hatfield St. Intersection.

  • Turn left and follow AZ-90 4.4 miles to the Fry Blvd intersection. Turn left to stay on AZ-90.

  • Travel 14 miles on AZ-90 to AZ-80 and make a right turn onto AZ-80.

  • Travel 8 miles on AZ-80 to the Mule Pass Tunnel.

  • Travel 4 miles on AZ-80 and take the exit toward Old Bisbee/Historic District.

  • Keep right at the fork to continue toward Main St/Naco Rd/Tombstone Canyon Rd into the Historic District of Bisbee AZ.

Along the Border

ALTERNATIVE SCENIC ROUTE FROM SIERRA VISTA AZ

  • From the Hatfield St. Intersection on AZ-90 S, continue straight through the intersection onto Buffalo Soldier Trail.

  • Stay on Buffalo Soldier Trail and travel about 7.1 miles to AZ-92 E.

  • Turn right onto AZ-92 E and travel about 29.2 miles through Hereford AZ, through Palominas AZ to Bisbee AZ, and to the Bisbee traffic circle.

  • At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit onto AZ-80 W heading to Benson.

  • Keep right to continue on Main St/Naco Rd/Tombstone Canyon Rd, follow signs for Old Bisbee, and continue into the Historic District of Bisbee AZ.

Layered clothing
Although average temperatures are generally mild, variable wind conditions and differing tour start times could impact comfort levels.

Sun protection
The Bisbee sun is powerful because we are a little closer to the sun. Be sure to bring a hat, sunglasses, and high SPF sunscreen. 

Insect repellent
Bisbee is known for its no-see-ums during its monsoon season. Bring along some strong insect repellent and bite cream to soothe any itchy bites.
