Lyric Theater

  • Built in 1917 and replaced the OK Livery Stable and Feed Store.

  • A two-story theater once called a movie palace.

  • It was built by the Lyric Amusement Company who owned theaters in Douglas, Tombstone. Nogales, and Tucson.

  • The Diamos family, owners, also owned and operated a theater nearby in Lowell.

  • Ted DeGrazia married the owner's daughter and became the manager of the Lyric for many years.

  • Rumored to have hosted harry Houdini and the Ziegfield Follies.

  • Theater operations closed in the mid-'80s.

  • Used now as the Bisbee Realty main office.

  • Your tour guide watched JAWS and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND in the lyric as a child.
