- Despite Bisbee's growth and prosperity, Geronimo and his followers continued to launch raids in the area for nine long years. These attacks were part of a broader campaign against American and Mexican settlements in the Southwest, as the Apache leader sought to defend his ancestral lands from encroaching settlers.
